History of the SASC
The Southern Alberta Solosport Club (SASC) was founded in 2007 and officially registered with the Government of Alberta as a Non-Profit Society on February 19th, 2008 by Shawn M, Warren H, Jay Z, Rod B, and Ambrose F. This group of automotive enthusiasts felt that the focus of other motorsports-related clubs in Alberta were more tailored to other disciplines of racing and felt that a club that focused solely on autocross would be beneficial to the folks interested in the sport.
The SASC membership base has grown substantially, especially in recent years, from less than 40 members as recently as 2015 to well over 160 members by 2018. The SASC continues to grow and improve with each year allowing events to run smoother and the level of competition to be higher. More formal processes and the relentless pursuit of additional venues by our hard-working volunteers have made the SASC into Alberta’s largest autocross club.
The club has also produced some incredibly talented drivers over the years, many of whom compete in larger events organized by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) all across the United States. The SASC is proud to have 3 US Solo National Championship winners amongst its ranks and several others who have trophied at US Solo Nationals and/or at SCCA Solo National Tour and SCCA Pro Solo events.
The SASC’s goal is for everyone to test the limits of their cars and themselves as drivers in a safe manner in a safe and controlled environment while, of course, having fun in the process.
The SASC has hosted the Canadian Autoslalom Championship with the help of ASN Canada and WCMA several times in the past, most recently in 2019.
